GTfusiOn GTSport Team World Championship Round 5 2021

For this 5th round of GTfusiOn we invite you to celebrate the magnificent double victory of the Lexus team in Super GT 2019 on the Autopolis circuit.

The sixth round of the 2019 Super GT Series season took place at Autopolis. The Autopolis race gave the impression of a roller coaster, with sudden showers, safety cars in series, lightning-fast ascents… After two breathtaking hours,  Lexus triumphed in both classes with Heikki Kovalainen/Yuichi Nakayama taking the overall victory in the #39 Denso Kobelco Lexus LC500 of Lexus Team SARD while Ritomo Miyata/Hiroki Yoshimoto won GT300 class in the #60 Syntium Lexus RC F GT3 of LM Corsa.

For Kovalainen, it’s his fourth GT500 victory while Nakayama climbed to the top podium spot for the first time in the premier class. Ritomo Miyata scored also his maiden GT300 victory while Yoshimoto today celebrated 100th Super GT start and seventh victory.

Heikki Johannes Kovalainen, born 19 October 1981 in Suomussalmi, Finland, is a Finnish driver. He took part in 111 Formula 1 Grand Prix, for a victory. In 2015, Kovalainen moved to Japan to compete in Super GT in the GT500 class with Team SARD. He won the championship in his second season in the series in 2016.

中山雄一, Nakayama Yuichi, in Tokyo born 25 July 1991 is a Japanese racing driver, He has an impressive list of successes and is far from being a novice. Maybe the best known for winning the 2013 All-Japan Formula Three Championship.

The Team SARD  , the acronym of Sigma Advanced Racing Development, is a Japanese tuner and equipment manufacturer and a Toyota racing team (Aichi).
It runs mainly in Super GT series and specializes in tuning parts for Toyota. In 2015, SARD teamed up with Swiss team Morand Racing to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship in the LMP21 category.

Autopolis Racing Circuit is a 4674 m long track with a long straight line of 902 m, a vertical drop of 52 m and 18 turns. This track is located in the middle of a mountain range in Oita prefecture of Kyushu in Japan and was built under the impulse of the real estate developer and investor Tomonori Tsurumaki and is the property of Kawasaki. Autopolis is known for its difficult layout, although sector 1 is a simple high-speed section, complex consecutive turns of all speed ranges await drivers in sectors 2 and 3. One of the particularities of the route, a slope maximum upward from 7.2% to 10% down, there is a lot of ascent and descent on this track, and driving a full lap without error requires great concentration.

Get ready and good luck to all team and their pilots !
